Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's debut female singer for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The first album she released on the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining notoriety. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio release was May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded her music on the internet in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and her mixtape debut in 2013, the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, she continued to upload her music via the web, including her own released single Bound. The track Sweat it is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to work on Rihanna references. She officially was signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track was written by her and Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 2016, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She also appeared as a guest on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. A music video was later released in September. On the 9th of November, she released another two singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). She then released on November 13 two new singles, titled The No One and Pedigree. They then teamed up as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019 to accompany her debut album with the same name. The 20th of February, 2019 a music video was released to promote the song. The track has received over 3 million views on YouTube within the initial week. In December 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
